Dark Skies 5/10 Series of inexplicable occurrences befalls family after son's nightmare. Slow, tired, recycled, inevitable


Gangster Squad 6/10 Cop assembles squad to pursue mob boss and affiliates. Didn't make the best of the actors it had


Sinister 4/10 Crime writer finds box of snuff films, investigates with demonic consequences. Laughable Hawke was decent


Insidious 8/10 Family haunted when son enters a coma, spirits want his empty body. Genuine scares but gets overly silly


End of Watch 9/10 A zealous cop gets in over his head on a routine patrol. Tense and well acted, Gyllenhaal is immense.



Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 9/10 Nerd saves town with ridiculous invention, things go awry. Hilarious and well told.


Brave 7/10 Princess defies custom, stirs trouble with local man-eating bear myth. Family cursed. Glorious CGI fun, if dark


Dredd 7/10 Cop and rookie trapped in tower block by drug-producing unhinged mob boss. More graphic novel than comic book


Prometheus 4/10 Dying entrepreneur seeks cure on hostile planet. Slow, inevitable, disjointed. What have you done Ridley?!


Jack Reacher 9/10 Lone wolf seeks truth amongst political/industrial conspiracy. Surprisingly enjoyable, Cruise miscast.


The Hobbit 8/10 Loner chosen for quest to reclaim homeland from usurper. Mistimed comic relief yet exciting and moreish


Willow 3/10 Biblical Moses story but with wizards and magic. Tedious yarn from George Lucas, master of tedious yarns.



Salvage - mysterious container washes ashore, violence ensues, great first half hour, then standard fare. 5/10


Avengers Assemble 3D 8/10 Great fun, great action, great use of 3D, -2 for rushing! Too many characters for development



How To Train Your Dragon 7/10 Dragon killers son befriends injured dragon, saving his village from a bigger meaner dragon.



Captain America 4/10 WW2 superhero movie without the superhero or the war. Many explosions to enthrall idiots. Truly dull.









Exit Through The Gift Shop 8/10 A man befriends and films street artists and gets addicted to the lifestyle.




Master and Commander 8/10 Epic, tense, exciting, fabulous score, costumes, the works. It's Sharpe at sea! Sequel please
